You asked for sugar scrubs

A few weeks ago I asked on Instagram what you'd love to make next, and nearly all of you said the same thing: easy sugar scrubs.

Yep! So I made you a little ebook.

What I'm making

Three Sugar Scrubs from the Pantry is yours to download: [LINK TO EBOOK]

Inside are my Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Sugar Scrub, a Turmeric and Ginger Sugar Scrub, and a Vanilla Sugar Lip Scrub. Each one takes about ten minutes, and you'll recognize every ingredient.

A quick mixing tip: Add the oil gradually. Stop when the sugar is evenly coated and easy to scoop; if it feels too loose, stir in a little more sugar.

If you only make one this week, make the brown sugar and cinnamon. It makes the whole bathroom smell like a bakery.

Plant Note: Clove

The clove in your spice jar has a surprising story. In folklore, it was sometimes used for divination—just the thing for Halloween week. Read more in this month’s Commonplace Almanac:THE SPOOKY SIDE OF CLOVE

JUST FOR YOU: MAKE & GIVE

Sugar scrubs are easy to dress up in a small jar with a simple label. If you’re giving one as a gift, add the ingredients to the tag so your recipient knows what’s inside.

Label Decoded: "Fragrance"

On a U.S. cosmetic label, “fragrance” can stand for a blend of scent ingredients; the individual components may not be listed by name. In a homemade recipe, you can see exactly what you’ve added—the benefit of making homemade bath and body products.

Warmly,
Julia

P.S. I’m opening something on November 9 for anyone who wants to make holiday gifts by hand this year. Reply FIRST if you’d like to hear about it before the announcement.
