If you’ve been here for a while, you know A Farm to Keep has always been about finding joy in seasonal living—through gardening, crafting, and celebrating the simple rhythms of home.
And that part? It’s not going anywhere.
But over time, something new has been quietly growing alongside the herbs and handmade projects—something I’m ready to give a little more space and light.
🌱 A Farm to Keep is becoming a resource for garden-inspired family learning.
Over the past few years, I’ve come to realize what really lights me up is helping families find connection through nature. I want to support you in creating meaningful, hands-on experiences that nourish curiosity, creativity, and a sense of belonging—right in your own backyard.
So moving forward, the blog will center around four main pillars:
Nature-Based Family Learning – activities, projects, and ideas that connect children and caregivers with the natural world
Seasonal Creativity – crafts, art, and writing prompts inspired by the garden and the changing year
Garden Tips & Plant Projects – how-tos for growing herbs and flowers, plus ideas for what to make with your harvest
Simple Sustainable Living – family-friendly ways to slow down, upcycle, and live more in tune with the earth
🌼 And yes—I’ll still be sharing gardening advice, recipes, or remedies from the harvest. That part of A Farm to Keep is here to stay, just with more ways to include the whole family.
Here’s a bit of how I got here:
Before starting A Farm to Keep, I was an early childhood art educator and co-owned a children’s subscription box that paired picture books with creative projects. I’ve also spent the past five years as a Girl Scout leader and garden liaison.
Through it all, I’ve seen the magic that happens when kids and families spend time in nature—they slow down, connect, and fall in love with the birds, bugs, breeze, and seasons. They fall in love with Mother Nature.
Now, I’m weaving that magic into this space—combining my love of words with what I’ve learned in gardens, art studios, forests, and on farms.
This blog is our way of going outside together.
Let’s explore how to raise wonder-filled kids, deepen family connection, and live with more intention, season by season.
I’m so glad you’re here, and I can’t wait to share more with you.
Let’s keep growing, exploring, and creating together.
With muddy boots and a grateful heart,
Julia
P.S. To celebrate this new season, I’ve created a free 30-Day Creative Garden Calendar to help you spark curiosity and connection in your own backyard, solo or as a family. No experience or special supplies necessary. [Click here to get it →]
